Concept visualisationIntelligent machines for real-world agriculture
VAFTSY AI & Robotics is our technology venture in intelligent machines, robotics and automation. It brings together our mechanical, electrical and simulation engineering with artificial intelligence.
First initiative
An autonomous nishigandha harvesting robot
Nishigandha (tuberose) is picked by hand at night as closed buds, which open during the journey to market. Growers near Pune report that night labour is scarce and that handling damage is common.
We are developing a robot designed to find buds at the right stage, pick them gently and store them, working along the crop beds at night.
- Robotic mobility
- Machine vision
- Precision manipulation
- Intelligent control
Where the project stands
Today: concept and research. We are studying the night harvest with growers and defining the machine.
Not yet: no robot has been built or field-tested. Performance figures on our AI website are design targets, not results.
Next: data collection, design and simulation, then a prototype and field trials.
The opportunity
Why agricultural automation
Work that is hard to staff
Many farm tasks, like night harvesting, depend on labour that is increasingly hard to find at the right time.
Delicate, variable crops
Plants are not factory parts. Machines need vision and gentle handling, which is where engineering and AI meet.
One platform, many tasks
A field robot designed well could later take on spraying, fertilising and other crops as separate modules.
